LOCAL NEWS:  1) The Muscovy Duck population in La Porte is out of control and citizens are asked not to feed these duck and to eliminate nests and eggs to control the overpopulatioin of these birds.  2) The La Porte noise ordinance requires daytime noise at a property to be below 65db during the day and 58db at night. Report noice complaints to LPPD. 3) Phase 2 of the Brookglen sewer line and stret replacement project is in the bidding phase until mid May. The project is scheduled to start in late June or early July.  4) The south drainage basin is well underway in Brookglen between Somerton and Gladwyne and will be completed in December 2026. The city is updating drainage maps and information with FEMA so that residents can take advantage of less expensive flood insurance in the future

Brookglen is located on the western end of La Porte, between Spencer Highway to the North and Fairmont Parkway to the South, San Jacinto College Central Campus to the West and Pecan Park Baseball Fields to the East. The first homes in Brookglen were built in 1968 and the last homes in 1997. Brookglen Park has a splashpad, playground, covered picnic area, bathrooms, and a recreation center used for the City of La Porte Senior Citizen Program.
